As is the case of many great things, this company began as a vision... of something that 'could' be. But Sole to Soul is just a name. It is the artists who breathe life into the work and turn dreams into reality. We are pleased to introduce you to our family. They are talent, grace, energy, and devotion unlike any other and they inspire us every day. We hope you are able to meet these incredible individuals and have them share their unique gifts with you at your future events!
Kelly Schmidt is a graduate of the University of Minnesota having received degrees in Criminal Law and Spanish and a master's in Social Work. In addition to her dedication toward community service, she is a co-founder, and the owner and Executive Director of S2SDC. Having studied dance throughout her life, she holds a boundless passion for artistic creation, direction, and performance. She has shared her talent for dance instruction at various studios and schools, at athletic clubs including The Firm (winning an award for her fitness instruction), as a choreographer and lead for Elements VIBE video group fitness by Wellbeats, while leading classes at an array of studios and workshops, in judging dance competitions, and during her time with the amazing performers of S2SDC. Kelly is also well known as "MC Special K" and has been one of the top requested female emcees in the Midwest. She has worked as a model for various companies and stylists, was a WOW! Girl for Macy's Glamorama, a professional dancer for Target Corporation and is a former Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader. She has had the opportunity to tour and perform with numerous renowned companies, perform with the likes of Big & Rich, Amber, NFL star Esera Tuaolo, the Capone All-Stars, and master lead impersonation roles in Mythology. Yet, Kelly maintains her work with S2SDC as her most cherished accomplishment. With the company, Kelly has choreographed, directed, and performed throughout the US and in Paris. In her words, “There is nothing more precious and rewarding than to feel inspired simply by doing what you love.”
Nina DeNio has been dancing her entire life. She has been a part of many companies but truly found her passion when becoming a member of S2S. Nina first met the owners of the company during her involvement in the dance production of Mythology and has been performing with them ever since. She has made appearances in many hair shows, pageants, and clubs all over the country and quickly emerged as highly respected dancer and choreographer within the company, always leading with positive enthusiasm and amazing energy! Nina holds a strong passion for both dance and music. She was a lead singer in the Korat Grey Band and performed with Skitzo, a local band featured in the reality show Full Throttle Saloon. In addition to her love of performing, she enjoys teaching dance and was part of the Holy Angels Dance Team coaching staff for nine years. Currently, Nina can be found traveling and singing with Brat Pack Radio, performing with Kat Perkins, Season 6 Finalist on The Voice, dancing for Grrl Scout and teaching at the Firm Fitness Studio. Nina has been dancing since age and continues to pursue the craft she loves.
Jeremiah Lewis-Walker has been an active member with S2S since 2006 as a celebrity impersonator, dancer, and choreographer. He has performed in various major productions, noting some of his favorite performances were at the Ivey Awards and Midwest Regional Emmy Awards. Jeremiah also serves as the choreographer for show choirs, theatre projects, and dance pieces for numerous high schools in the Minneapolis/St.Paul metro area. For many years he served as the head coach of the Academy of Holy Angels Competition Cheer Team, leading the team to five state championships with high marks in choreography. He also performed with the Northern Elite Inferno Performance Team who took home the National Champion win in 2009! Jeremiah’s other credits include backup vocalist for Shania Twain’s “God Bless The Child” and performer for Mythology, the Capone All-Stars, Taylor Dayne, Skitzo, Big Lots TV Commercial, and in multiple music videos such as Motion City Soundtrack’s “A Lifeless Ordinary” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season One first place winner, Bebe Zahara Benet’s debut. Jeremiah is currently the head cheerleading coach at Park High School, resdient show choir choreographer at Aspire Music Academy, a fitness instructor at Lifetime and owner, choreographer and creative director at JLW Productions. As a highly respected S2S member, Jeremiah engages those around him both on stage and off, and entertains with riveting energy and enthusiasm!
Tamsen Preston started dancing at age 6. She trained and competed at 4th Street Dance Centre in White Bear Lake, MN for many years. Her love of dance has brought her opportunities to perform all over the world. She has danced in two NFL Super Bowl pre-game shows, Euro Disney in France and a USO performance at the United States Air Force base in Osan, South Korea. To keep up on her training of ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop she has taken classes at the Hennepin Center of the Arts in Minneapolis, as well as Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Locally she continues to utilize her dancing skills by performing in many different projects around the city including corporate events, Mythology, and as a featured dancer in the video “Lifeless Ordinary” by Motion City Soundtrack. She also holds fond memories of dancing for the NBA’s New Jersey Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves. In addition to these ventures, Tamsen is a highly dedicate and talented 'senior' member of Sole to Soul and has participated in many exciting events including the Rocco Altobelli Fashion Awards, Midwest Regional Emmys, and as a back up dancer for national recording artist Amber.
Maggie Culp began dancing at age seven, training at Pat Peare School of Dance, Terps, Butterfield, and Larkin. She competed for 12 years winning many awards including the Pulse Convention Scholarship, Missouri’s Dance Idol, Symposium’s Terpsichorean, Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest Winner, Statewide’s Performer of Excellence, Jr. Miss Showbiz and Miss Starpower. Maggie went on to attend Webster University in St. Louis, MN, where she founded, coached, and participated on the Webster University Danceline. In 2006 she graduated with a BFA in Dance and a BA in Business Administration. After college, Maggie returned to Minneapolis and began her professional career as a celebrity impersonator and dancer in Mythology. Since then she has been featured in Macy’s Glamorama performing with Big & Rich at the Orpheum and Chicago State Theatre, toured with SKITZOfenic and appeared on the reality show Full Throttle Saloon. She has also become a highly respected member of Sole to Soul performing as a backup dancer, lead, and model for major productions at local community events as well as large national/international hair and fashion productions. She also continues to share her talents as an instructor of jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, ballet, musical theatre, gymnastics, and baton at studios throughout the twin cities, and can be found routinely at The Dance Factory. In addition to dance, Maggie has been involved in the world of theatre, performing and choreographing for companies in Minnesota and Missouri. In her words, “Passion drives me. I believe I have a shot at my dreams, which float amongst the clouds, and make me proud to think upon from one sunrise to the next… that’s me at my best. I do what I love everyday!”
Heather Jo Burke has been dancing for over 20 years. She began her training with a focus on ballet at Zenon Dance in Minneapolis. Her intrigue for free dance expression grew and she diverted her passions into a variety of dance genres including jazz, hip-hop, and freestyle. Shortly after high school Heather auditioned with 350 other hopefuls and found herself dancing and cheering as a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader. After two seasons with the NFL, Heather moved on to sing and dance as part of MTV’s series ‘Making the Band’. From there she performed as a back dancer and lead for Mythology, instructed high energy aerobics and dance classes at many fitness studios, and began her career with Sole to Soul! As a S2S member, Heather has shared her fiery spirit and contagious enthusiasm as a model and dancer in many fashion shows, as a back dancer for nationally renowned artists, and in large productions such as the Midwest Regional Emmy Awards. Heather currently runs Epic Nutrition and is a proud mother of three who never rests! She is a hard worker with drive and ambitions that keep her in constant search for the next adventure!
Callie Jacobson began performing at the age of 3 and her passion has only continued to grow. She has been a dancer for many different companies in the twin cities and debuted with S2SDC in 2010! Her love for dance has enabled her to share her talents with audiences across the country while performing in hair shows, fashion shows, pageants, clubs and other entertainment productions. Some of Callie's career highlights include dancing for the Rocco Altobelli Fashion Awards, Ivey Awards, Tabitha's Takeover Salon Premier Party, Ashley Furniture Corporate Party, MN Orchestra and MN Opera events as well as several performances for the MIA. Callie was a back-up dancer for singer/song writer Kat Perkins (semi-finalist on THE VOICE Season 6) in the band SKITZOfrenic. Callie also toured the U.S. for many years with national vocalist Alejandra Chica Cumbia and was featured in her music video “Hay Amor.” She has performed with former NFL player Esera Tuaolo in the 2012 PRIDE Block Party where they opened for international R&B singer Mya. Callie can be seen in music videos including "Lifeless Ordinary" by Motion City Soundtrack and "Hold Me Back" by Nathan Santos, produced by Carlos Gomez. Callie is a featured dancer in the Groov3 home fitness DVD “Dance Sweat Live” by Benjamin Allen. She has performed in shows for Bebe Zahara Benet, a Cameroonian-American drag performer and singer best known for winning the first season of the reality-television drag competition RuPaul's Drag Race in 2009. Callie continues to awe audiences with her unique style and devotion to dance.
Nicole Maurer started dancing at the age of 3. She graduated as a Senior Larkin dancer and continued her dance career as an NFL cheerleader. She debuted with Sole to Soul in 2002 as a model and dancer for Intercoiffure Mondial in Paris, France! Since then, Nicole has been fortunate to perform in various S2S shows in the Twin Cities, New York, and Washington D.C. Nicole feels blessed by the dance opportunities S2S has provided her. She is highly respected as a ‘senior’ S2S dancer building many wonderful relationships, leading by impeccable example, and sharing her passion of dance with many other talented individuals. In addition to dance, Nicole is also a real estate agent for Remax Results and is an intership away from her Masters in Psychology at the University of St. Thomas. Between dancing, real estate, and graduate school, Nicole first and foremost enjoys spending time with the three loves of her life; her husband Aric and her two beautiful boys Auden and Rayen!
Rebecca Jacobsen Abroe has loved every moment with Sole to Soul since joining in 2007. She is a dynamic performer who fully embraces the thrill and adventures of dance. As a 'senior' company member she demonstrates poise and leadership in all she does. From theatrics to technique, Rebecca has fervor for performance and lights up the stage. Along with S2S, she danced for many years with Ballet of the Dolls and is currently perfoming with Collide Theatrical, is a Pilates and Spin instructor at The FIRM, and cherishes her most beloved role of “Mommy” to her girls, Eloise and Penelope.
Alan Tse is very excited to be part of the Sole to Soul family. He has long been a big fan! Alan debuted as a performer with Sole to Soul at the 2009 Minneapolis Institute of the Arts Gala. He has also danced in the Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA), the Rocco Altobelli Fashion Awards and a variety of other inspirational local events. He was a model for Fashion Ball by Ballet of the Dolls and has been a featured dancer in other fantastic Dolls productions. Originally from Hong Kong, Alan is the design director for his own design agency, Zydeco Design. Alan is very proud to be able to share not only his passion for dance, but also his professional talents with the company. His most notable contribution being the design of the Sole to Soul logo!
Danielle Nelson premiered with Sole to Soul as a model and dancer for the 2008 RAFA Rocco Altobelli Fashion Awards Show. Since then Danielle has been fortunate to dance with S2S in numerous shows in the Twin Cities and in Washington D.C. Danielle feels blessed by the relationships she has formed and all the opportunities the company has provided her and has loved every minute of dancing with S2S! When she is not dancing, Danielle is often involved with theatre; she has been seen in various productions including Anything Goes as “Erma”, and Guys and Dolls playing a “Hotbox Doll” and the lead “Havana Dancer.” Danielle has also choreographed various musicals including: “Seussical the Musical”, “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Les Miserables”. In addition to theatre, Danielle also has a passion for singing and has had professional vocal recording experience. Although Danielle has a strong passion for the performing arts, she is also a 2010 graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology. With her degree, Danielle hopes to share her enthusiasm of performing with young students!
Britta Martin holds a BA from the University of Minnesota in Mathematics and MBA from the Carlson School of Management. Her love for dance emerged at age three when she began taking tap, jazz, and ballet classes at a local studio. Britta went on to study dance at the University of Minnesota and studios around the country. She feel in love with contemporary lyrical at Millennium and the Edge in California. Over time her training has expanded to include a wide variety of dance styles, which she has performed professionally in Minnesota, Washington DC, and California. Britta dabbled in acting and choreography during her time in Washington DC performing in the 'Guys and Dolls' Musical and continues to pursue her acting career. Britta debuted with Sole to Soul in 2010 and has been inspired by the energy and talent the company has to offer. She quotes her favorite trait of the company as, "These dancers never bring fire! Whatever is asked of them, they do a little bit more. They dance with their heart and souls, and it shows."
Morgan Kirvida is grateful to be a part of S2SDC for nearly a decade. She has danced, performed, choreographed, taught and trained in the Twin Cities area for most of her life. Morgan has performed at the Ordway Center, Mystic lake Casino, Artistry and Guthrie. She has provided vocals for numerous local bands and currently enjoys singing at Grace Church EP. Morgan earned her BA in dance from the University of MN, where she also studied voice and acting. Another artistic venue for her is styling hair for men and women at her studio, “MoHair” in Sola Salons EP.
Bailey Johnson began dancing at the age of 3 at a local dance studio. She competed for many years in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, and modern. She continued her training at the University of Minnesota Dance Program. Following graduation, Bailey spent two years as a participant in the scholarship program at Zenon Dance Studio and began dancing professionally for the Minnesota Swarm Performance Team. She currently performs with a variety of different companies in the Twin Cities. Bailey has been a member of Sole to Soul for over 10 years and enjoys every opportunity to perform and share her passion for dance.
Maya Angelou once said, “life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away,” and Susan strives to create moments that are meaninful. Susan Nwoke Leppke began dancing at the age of ten in Clarksville, Tennessee and her love for dance never ceased. She studied in various forms of dance including tap, lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, African and ballet. From dancing in her high school’s dance team to performing for dance companies in the Twin Cities, she continues to enhance her skills and grow as a dancer. Susan has made appearances at venues across the Twin Cities not only a dancer, but also as a model and actor. When she is not involved directly in the arts, she broadens her passion by volunteering on boards for various organizations and doing management consulting for small companies. In addition, Susan has her master’s degree in public health and is passionate about health equity and expanding affordable access to healthcare for everyone.
Katie is a Minnesota native. She trained at “The Dance Academy,” where her love of dance began. While attending Worthington High School she spent five years dancing on the Varsity Dance Team, three of which as the team captain. After graduation, she headed to Mankato, MN, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance at Minnesota State University (MSU). During this time, she received extensive training in modern dance technique and had the pleasure of working with many accomplished choreographers such as Dan Stark, Julie Kerr-Berry, Brad Garner, Morgan Thorson, Gabriel Masson, Beth Corning and Alan Sener. She also proudly performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC for The American College Dance Festival. While studying in Mankato, Katie began her role as an instructor and choreographer for a local dance studio and became the head coach for the W.E.M. Dance Team. After graduation, she ventured to Minneapolis where she has continued to share her love of dance with students through her energetic choreography and classes. Katie was honored to be a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader Finalist in 2014. Over the years, she has continued to perform with various local companies including Unspeakable Dance, Valley Fair, M-SHE Productions, Borealis Dance and S2SDC. Katie also just wrapped up her first season as Assistant Coach for the MSU Mankato Dance Team! Her passion for dance has grown immensely over the years and it shows whenever she hit the stage!
Amy has a warm personality and a smile that will light up a room. Her love for dance started as a young child, training by age 3 in ballet and tap. She continued training throughout her childhood and was the senior captain of her high school dance team. Amy’s professional career took off when she became a member of the Ascending Stars Dance Team, preforming for the Minnesota Semi-Professional Football League and competing in the Minnesota Semi-Pro competition where her team took 1st place. Amy began dancing with S2S in 2018. She has had the opportunity to perform at local events including Cirque Exotica and most recently as a dancer and model for the Rocco Altobelli Fashion Awards. Dance has allowed Amy the ability to express herself and her feelings through movement. When she isn’t dancing Amy can be found teaching yoga and spending time with her 3 awesome kids!
Jean Paul Kelly began dancing at the age of 15. After lighting a dance production he thought there was nothing more he would rather do than dance. Beginning his formal training at Mt. Carmel High School, followed by Temecula Valley High School, he was added to the advance dance team after only one short semester of class. In 1998, Jean Paul received a scholarship to dance with the Festival Ballet Company of Atlanta (FBCA) under the director of world renowned ballet dancer Nicolas Picana. Within a year of training, Jean Paul became a soloist with FBCA. Some years later he went ROGUE from the ballet world and set out on a tour of dancer discovery working with such companies as American All-Stars, Royal Caribbean, NCL, Stiletto Entertainment, Irwin Production, D-White Productions and the Orlando City Ballet. He also had the honor of performing with rock legend Tina Turner during her famous Super Bowl pre-game performance and in Tarzan Rocks at Walt Disney World. During his decade in the twin cities Jean Paul graced the stage with both Ballet of the Dolls and S2S!
Amy Hamilton has been dancing since the age of 4. Amy has a BA in both Political Science and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where she danced on the club hip-hop team Hypnotiq. After graduating she spent two years teaching English in Korea where she continued to train at various studios in Seoul. She then moved to New York where she danced at Broadway Dance Center. Amy began dancing with S2S in 2014 and has performed in various local events, including as a dancer and model for the Rocco Altobelli Fashion Awards. When not working or dancing, Amy loves to spend time traveling with her husband Martin and hanging with their dog, Langdon! Wherever she is in the world, she has found dance to be a beautiful and universal method of communication!
Tam Shea is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and a master’s in Education from Hamline University. She is one of the co-founders of S2SDC, and after time away, she is excited to be back dancing with this amazingly talented group. Tam has shared her passion for dance through her teaching and choreography at a variety of local dance studios, performing at multiple Twin Cities venues and as a MN Vikings Cheerleader. She has a background in personal training and continues to share her love for dance and fitness as an instructor at Lifetime Athletic. Tam would like to dedicate her dance performances to her daughter Fiona who is her heart and soul.
Elyse Transon started dancing with Sole to Soul in a 2010 performance at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and has been performing with them ever since. Elyse enjoys a variety of dance styles and has been featured in videos and commercials, including Motion City Soundtracks “A Lifeless Ordinary” and a commercial for LG electronics shown throughout Europe and Asia. Additionally, she is a backup dancer for national vocalist Alejandra and tours with her all over the United States. Yet, Elyse’s most heartfelt passion is for Irish dance. After ending her competitive career at the World Championships in 2006, Elyse moved on to teaching and performing professionally. She has been sharing her love of dance with the St. Paul Irish dancers and has performed on various tours in both the United States and Europe. Elyse hopes to one day start her own school of dance where she can continue to share her true passion for the arts.
